Yup, the only thing that video is somewhat misleading about is it doesn't mention that the Dhampir's Ancestral Legacy feature only lets you keep your movement speed if you acquire the lineage during your adventuring career. So all its talk of picking a flying race and then getting the lineage only truly works if the DM rewards you with the lineage at some point.
Still Darkvision, Deathless Nature, Spider Climb, and Vampiric Bite are all really good features.
RAW you can just become a Dhampir when taking a level in Warlock. Unless there is homebrew or a house rule, just informing your DM is all you need to do. That is the correct way to run it.
I have run games where you needed to roleplay getting the warlock level, which requires meeting the patron somehow, if you didnt start as that. However, those games are often more rp than combat, so there isnt much added power.

Nah this is incorrect, you don't get to change your Race just by choice. DM approval, either as a RP event or as an out-of-game decision is needed.

Weird. I have checked and checked the Warlock class and all subclasses officially released and nowhere does it mention you can become a Dhamphir by becoming a Warlock. Can you clarify your source, please?
