On the topic of polymorph and effects toward it, if an evil cleric cast heat metal on the knight in the party, would you let him find relief from the spell by being polymorphed?
Personally, yes. Polymorph says that the gear "melds" into the new form. As such, as DM, I'd rule that the metal object no longer exists as a discrete object and the polymorphed creature would not be affected. Polymorph is magic, somehow all of the metal and mass from the equipment worn or carried, including magic items, is melded into the new form. Even if that new form is a mouse, who would not even be able to move if the equipment that "melded" retained its or any form of coherence.
As such, I would tend to rule that any excess mass is magically shuffled off somewhere. The equipment no longer exists and as a result can't be affected by heat metal since there is no metal to heat and heat metal requires a creature in physical contact with the object in order to take damage. If the object no longer physically exists then it can't do damage.
I have someone who is wanting to use components for a spell and the component they need is fleece. If they use polymorph and turn into a sheep and have themselves sheered, do they keep the fleece? Also, will it affect them as their normal self like will they be bald?

It seems like since people have differing ideas on it, and the text can´t clear it up, it´s just the DM´s choice.
