Yo! so im doing some super late game theroy crafting with some friends about using true polymorph to get a body with high mental stats and cloning that body then finding another body you want and taking that over with magic jar making a clone of that body.
so far the order is to (not including long rests for time to regain spells) 1. glyph of warding (store the clone spell) 2. true polymorph (into a creature with high mental stats) 3. step on glyph 4. wait for body and take over your new cloned body (which should give you all your class stuff?) 5. find the body you want and magic jar them 6. clone said body (with all of that bodys physical stats with your higher mental stats) 7. go into the new cloned body 8. live your best life
the new problem im having is some people say the true polymorph body wouldnt take your class levels and stuff when you went into it. why wouldnt it? the clone spell doesnt hold your levels on the cloned body when you cast it? if you made it at 17th level and get to 20th then die and go to your clone you dont become 17th level. meaning you soul should have your class levels and features right?
I would say the mind would know the information but the body would not be capable of performing the requested actions. Muscle memory would not exist in the new clone., perhaps not as flexible being new and not stretched. It would take time for the new body to get used to doing what is asked of it.

The biggest flaw here is that clone doesn't allow you to clone anyone and go into their body. The original creature will go into the clone's body.
True polymorph would not take your levels. You transform into the creature. You only retain what the spell says you retain, and class levels is not something you retain.
I also believe the magic jar would fail as clone would clone a body for the original person and when they did their soul would go into the clone, not you.

when you cast clone it makes a clone of the clone of the body you are currently in so it would count as your clone and your soul would go into that body

As far as I can tell cloning the body would still allow the original soul to go into it once the body. I see no reason to assume the original soul would not go to the cloned body.

because it wouldnt be their body anymore youd be the new owner you could even kill the old soul in the jar
A few potential problems. 1: Clone copying the True Polymorphed form is debatable, as it copies the creature but doesn't state it copies any magical effects on the creature. True Polymorph is a persistent spell effect, not a true form. 2: Spellcasting is a class feature which is overwritten by True Polymorph while you're in that form. If your Clone body is the new form for whatever reason, I as a DM would argue that it's bound by the restrictions of True Polymorph.
