As a new player I was wondering if this could be possible with the new 2024 player rules... Am a rogue, halfling with skulker as ability
A player of my group is fighting a enemy in melee range. I had a good stealth roll and managed to move undetected behind the enemy. I do my sneak attack as an action and as bonus action I use hide. Can I hide behind my ally, as using my halfling species ability : Naturally Stealthy: You can attempt to hide even when you are obscured only by a creature that is at least one size larger than you. And the Fog of war feat: You exploit the distractions of battle, gaining Advantage on any Dexterity (Stealth) check you make as part of the Hide action during combat. If I succeed in the stealth check, am I then allowed to make a sneak attack again in the next turn?
Is that a possibility where a DM can have peace with, or is it to far fetched ?
P.S. For me the invisible condition is just that if I succeed in hiding, I am indeed invisible for that particular enemy, as long I don't go in plain view of my enemy where I'm hiding from. So in other words, he/she/it would need to search me.
Yes you should be able to do all this with those exceptional features.
Depending on how your DM interpret the Hide rules though, the enemy could still find you if it ever moves to a place where you're no longer obscured by such creature.

Keep in mind that you do not even have to Hide to perform a Sneak Attack. As long as your ally remains in melee range to the enemy that you are targeting then you can use your Sneak Attack over and over again. Intuitively, it might seem like the words "sneak attack" imply that you can only do this once. But no, as long as the conditions are met you can repeatedly use this feature over and over again.
Keep in mind that Hiding even in '24 is not meant to literally make you invisible on its own- creatures in combat detect anything they have clear LoS on unless that other creature is expressly invisible or behind cover/obscured and has successfully used Hide. Generally speaking, Hide shouldn't do a ton of good in melee until you've got some higher end features in play that actively conceal you.
Yes, this would work every round, but it's often easier and more effective to use your Bonus Action on Steady Aim since that tactic gives you Advantage with no chance of failure.
