Am I missing something, or are the effects of Oil of Sharpness now permanent in the current rules of the 2024 DMG?
I recognize that any DM can turn around and say, 'Looks like they forgot part of the text when they copied it; the effect is temporary.' I'm just asking if there is something elsewhere that I have not seen (e.g., they didn't mention 1 hour because, in section X of the 2024 DMG/Player's Handbook, they did specify that all potions other than potions of healing have a maximum duration)
I cannot say if it's intended or not, but I believe it should have a limited number of uses (e.g. hits) or a duration, similar to Oil of Etherealness or Oil of Slipperiness.
2024 Oil of Sharpness mention no duration as opposed to 2014 and to me is clearly an omission that will eventually need errata.
I agree that it's unlikely to be intentional. Usually if they want something to have a permanent effect, they say so explicitly, rather than just omitting a duration.

Yeah it would otherwise be a cheaper way to make +3 Weapon at 50% discount easily to save 20,000 GP

That could lead to an amusing situation where there are, like, the weapon equivalent of audiophiles who insist on having artisanal hand-crafted +3 Weapons that were enchanted "the traditional way" and sneer at people whose +3 Weapons were only created through smearing some oil on them, ugh, how gauche

For reference, the 2014 Oil of Sharpness lasted for an hour, which happens to consistent with Oil of Etherealness.
How to add Tooltips.
