Further to the above, I would argue that Defender never actually loses its +3 to attack and damage rolls, it just allows you to temporarily redirect the usage of that bonus. As such no matter where the bonus is applied it remains "a magic weapon that already has a bonus to attack and damage rolls".

So I have two questions regarding the Kensei Monk's Sharpen the Blade Ability.
1. If a weapon has a bonus that is less than +3, can this ability increase that bonus to +3 by spending 3 ki points?
2. Does this ability pair with the legendary weapon Defender? As in can it provide the bonus after Defender moves it's bonus to your AC?
1) "this feature has no effect on a magic weapon that already has a bonus to attack and damage rolls"
2) not sure on that one. I'd be tempted to say no as Defender in normal mode has a bonus to ATK/damage.
I do appreciate your input, but I am looking for official clarification.

lol I avoid twitter like the plague. I'll try some more in depth research now that I'm home and am off mobile.
I think the answer to both questions in "No" for the reasons JCAUDM stated.
