You always know the number of hours left before the next sunrise or sunset.
Im going to run a campaign where the players will go to different planes of existence. If the character has never been there before, studied it why would they know it?. Im planning to not have them know this info until they have spent a day in the place to chart the sun get the lay of the land.
If for example they go to a place where the sky is obscured and cant see the sun, or they are wholly underground then they wouldn't know
Has anybody else tried this. Or, does everybody have ALWAYS without exception?
I think the simple break down of this feature is having a keen sense of time and direction. They may also be able to gues the amount of time left based on the brightness of the sky (if night) or the sun's position (if day).

You can determine you simple know the time due a biological clock. Simple and not rule breaker, not even necessary adapt anything.

So basically, it's on you as DM to look for a description to make this feat relevant on a given plane.
