PCs choose between ASI (Ability Score Increase) or Feat when they reach a certain Class level. The amount of ASI or Feats a character could get varies a little between the classes, some get more than others.
There is a feat from the Variant Human option.
When you look at the Bard class, you will see Ability Score Improvement at level 4, 8, 12, 16, and 19. Each of those Ability Score Improvements could be used for a Feat instead, giving the Bard 5 Feats in total if they wanted.
When you look at the Fighter class, you will see Ability Score Improvement at level 4, 6, 8,12, 14, 16, and 19, the Fighter could get 7 feats.
Each class will have a table that shows when they get an ASI, so you can figure out how many they get from that table.
That information can be found in the Player's Handbook, you'll want to read through the description of what class you're playing so you know what abilities you get at each level. You'll also what to read the section in Chapter 6 on Feats. Additional feat choices can also be found in Xanathar's Guide To Everything.
If your race/lineage isn't the variant human or custom lineage, then you would get 1 Ability score improvement which you can trade out for a feat. If you are a variant human or custom lineage, then you get a bonus feat at level 1. Hope this helps.
Edit: I probably should've said, but most classes including warlocks, get an ASI (ability score improvement) at 4th, 8th, 16th, and 19 levels. Although some DM's, myself included let their players start with a free feat, but that's not official, just popular homebrew.

Level 1 feats aren’t entirely homebrew: they are options in a few official sourcebooks now. Strixhaven was the first; Dragonlance and Bigby’s Glory of the Giants also contain them. Dragonlance also gives bonus 4th level feats (which are tied to the 1st level choices). However, these bonus feats are not part of the default game. If just playing with the PHB, then any class will get access to its first feat at level 4 (and only if the DM allows feats).
It looks like the 2024 PHB will have feats as part of the core rules (I.e. not optional rules as they are currently) and will include background feats taken at level 1.
I dont rl know. Please write. Thanks

And rogues get an extra ASI at level 10, so they can have 6 feats.
But yeah each class chart tells you when they get an ASI, and when in doubt, the character builder on DDB automates almost everything.

What would I get for a level 5 Warlock?

I wasn't talking about the background feats as you don't get to choose from every feat, and the one D&D feats from backgrounds aren't out yet.
