Does this mean If I used the bonus action spell first? or If I plan on using it I can only use a Cantrip as my action to use another spell as my bonus action?
Bonus Action
A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action.
It goes both ways. If you cast a BA spell first, you can only cast a cantrip as your action spell. If you cast a regular action spell first, you would be unable to cast the BA spell after. So, if you are planning on casting the BA spell, you would need to plan ahead and use a cantrip first.
