Does suggestion have the same limitation as charm person were the victim realises and gets furious. Or is suggestion subtle enough that the victim wont realise theyre been spelled?
Spells tell you how they work. Other spells are completely irrelevant to what a particular spell does. If a spell doesn't say it does something, then it doesn't.
The target still has to hear and understand you to be affected, though. They don't explicitly know they've been targeted by a spell, but they know they heard a command and know they then followed it - in many circumstances, an intelligent target would be able to put two and two together. DM probably has to make whatever call makes sense in the situation.

Suggestion does not say that the target knows it was targeted, so it could be subtle. It doesn't work the same way as charm person.
