trying to make this char with minimal homebrew. ill take the disadv. it could make the game more fun lol i have the greatsword and a longsword. so im good. Fighter class lol
Its possible your DM might let you drop the disadvantage if you pick up Powerful Build from somewhere (like Bear Totem Barbarian). Or, you can try to focus on ways to cancel your disadvantage by stacking on advantage; Battlemaster Fighters are pretty good at knocking foes down with their first strike so that follow up atacks are against a prone target. Or you could try to splash a level of warlock or some other spellcaster (or find a magic item) that gives you access to spells like Darkness or Fog Cloud; if you and your target are both blind, then everyone ends up making straight attack rolls against one another as a result of simultaneous disadvantage (can't see your target) and advantage (your target can't see you).
I would caution any DM to homebrew away the weapon size limitation on small races. Goblins have powerful racial passives (Fury of the Small & Nimble Escape) that more than make up for being unable to use Heavy weapons.
Besides, this is Rules & Game Mechanics, so by RAW there's no permanent method of having a Goblin with a Greatsword without disadvantage outside of something like Wish. This can be temporarily overridden by Enlarge/Reduce.
You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
how do you make word text like that. with the mouse over box, plus i agree with exactly what you say, a non HB way to enhance it temporarily is fine. her passives are excatly why im ok with the heavy limitation, she has plenty to make up for it
Not sure if there's an updated list, see here for some forum tags like [spell], [monster], [magicitem] that can make it easier for folks reading your posts to be able to refer to a source.
You could drop down to a longsword and use 2 hands. You could also go Barbarian and use reckless attacks. I have a gnome bear totem that’s reincarnated from a Goliath, still thinks he’s a Goliath but that everyone else is bigger.
If only the Great Weapon Master feat's one benefit imposed disadvantage rather than a -5 to the attack roll, it would be perfect.
As it stands you could still take it. You'd hardly ever hit anything, but when you do it could do devastating damage, particularly with Fury of the Small.
IF i made a goblin fighter and choose a greatsword. i would gave disadvantage with attack rolls. is there a way to alleviate this?
Short answer, not really and that's on purpose. If racial drawbacks like being Small or having Sunlight Sensitivity could be easily counteracted, those races would be unbalanced.

Could be pretty hilarious.
Pretty sure the fact that Disadvantage doesn't stack is a big part of why GWM and Sharpshooter use -5 instead. :)

My Spells, My Races, My Magic Items, My Monsters, My Subclasses,
None that I am aware of. You can 2-hand a longsword. You can ask a DM to allow a homebrew feat that alleviates it.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.

The easiest way is either to make your goblin become larger or to make the sword become smaller.

As an aside, Greatswords and Goblins is my favorite role playing game after Dungeons and Dragons.

You can find instructions for how to do it here.

or as I mentioned in the other thread, use your crappy aim to your advantage by tagging along with a helpful drunken master that can guide your blows!
