Im a newer DM and brand new to D&D beyond. I want to only use magic items I have in the books I have purchased, and would like to use the DMG magic item loot tables to give out loot, but it doesn’t account for any of the new magic items that are available from the other books.
How do you go about assigning magic item loot to solve for this?
Xanathar's Guide to Everything has some different loot tables that separate everything into rarities. I haven't looked to see if it includes more than XGtE and DMG, but you could modify the list yourself. Alternatively, I think that if you put the DMG tables into a spreadsheet and labeled each table's contents with a consumable or permanent label as well as the rarity of the item, you'd see a pattern. You could then add your additional items. Assigning probabilities would be the hardest.
On the other hand, you could simply have additional tables, with a table to randomly choose the tables from among the existing ones and any that you generate from the extra items.
