What happens if you have a shield and a weapon that can be used as either one-handed or two-handed? Obviously the AC drops by 2, but are there any other things that need to be taken into account? For example, does putting away/taking out the shield count as a bonus action? Is it a free action that he can just do whenever? I almost feel like you’d need to pick at the start of combat, as in real life (I know, who’s getting into a sword fight in real life?) your enemy wouldn’t stop and wait for you while you put your shield away or picked it back up, but those moments would instead be opportunities to attack while your defenses are down. I checked the section on shields and the section on weapon properties but didn’t see any mention of impact to mechanics during combat.
