Maybe I'm just salty that Artificers don't get the Mending cantrip by default.
Mending is an artificer cantrip. Are you saying you are salty artificer's don't get it without it counting against cantrips known?
Indeed. It feels like a totally appropriate thing to add Mending to the Artificer's spell list by default. It's annoying that if I want to repair my Sidekick, I would need to take Mending and then only get 1 other Cantrip (aside from any racials) until level 10. Although since the official Artificer Homunculus has much less HP, it's a little less useful to Mend them ... But, I digress.
To answer emrfish6 and SagaTympana ... Yes, the stat block for the Homunculus Servant "monster" has 1d4 HD, but also in the DDB Character sheet, when I create a Homunculus Infusion, under Extras the Homunculus shows a "1d4" next to HP. These two reasons are where my confusion comes from.
What I said earlier, and what Sigred is getting at, is that that stat block doesn’t exist in the book. D&D Beyond made it up because of technical limitations. They are not WotC and they cannot make official rules. It’s reasonable to be confused, but it’s not a valid argument.
Actually, the homunculus servant does have a stat block in the book that clearly shows a lack of hit dice.
The hit dice shown in the areas mentioned are do to DDB's technical limitations, and don't match the rules.
That is exactly what I said :p
Was this changed at some point? The homunculus Servant that artificers create now says it has a number of hit dice equal to your artificer level. I assume for healing over short/long rests

Keep in mind that the version of the Artificer class in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything had some minor changes from the original version from Eberron: Rising from the Last War. The digital versions of both on D&D Beyond now include the Tasha's language about hit dice for a Homunculus Servant, but DDB loves to retroactively update things, so it's very possible the original version from Eberron didn't originally have that.
The Tasha's version is the current published version as of this writing, since the 2024-style UA version has not yet been finalized.
Yeah I'm seeing this in the Tasha's stat block here on DDB as well. Looks like they errata'd the Homunculus for Artificer? So I guess now, Yes, according to the rules, a Homunculus Servant now has: Hit Points 1 + your Intelligence modifier + your artificer level (the homunculus has a number of Hit Dice [d4s] equal to your artificer level)

Are you looking at the new ua artificer?
The statblock in Tasha's says so. Not sure if that's a DDB thing (shouldn't be...).
I'm looking at the artificer in tasha's
