Error on my part. 5esrd.com returning 3rd party content. 5thsrd.org is the one that's only content from the SRD.
A notable distinction, but ultimately moot, since the SRD isn't actually a set of rules for playing, but a legal document outlining what protected IP can be shared. If it's not in basic rules or any other rule book but appears in the SRD, it's actually not an official rule.
(I did think it was more than a bit odd. This makes slightly more sense.)
To reaffirm my original position, in 5e (sadly) there is not (as) much special about being on the Astral Plane when compared to earlier editions. (Yet)
This is an old post, so I apologize for replying, but I really wanted to thank you for offering your input. There were a lot of arrogant posters insisting that there was no official support for the idea of time working differently in the astral plane, or for bodily functions (such as resting) working differently.
You have pretty much made them eat their words and I appreciate that.
