This. If your character was a barbarian 9, you'd also have brutal critical which would add 1 more d4 for a total of 8d4 on a crit. While the max potential of 2d4 and 1d8 are the same on a hit, the criticals favor the d8 while the average damage and consistency of the damage favors the 2d4. 2d4 also has a higher floor (2 vs 1).

I think it is critical weapon dice 4d4 orcish fury crit 4d4 and savage attack adding extra dice 2d4
