Forest gnomes automatically get the minor illusion cantrip, but if you play a forest gnome as a wizard specialized in illusion you don’t get an extra cantrip at level 2. In RAW of the PHB at 2nd level am illusionist is supposed to get minor illusion, unless they already have it then they get to pick another cantrip, but DNDBeyond’s character development does not include this. If you are a forest gnome you just get the cantrip twice. I was wondering if this could be fixed or did I read the rules wrong in the PHB.
D&D Beyond’s framework makes a distinction between spells based on how you’ve acquired them. For example, when you get Minor Illusion from being a forest gnome, it’s not a wizard cantrip. My guess is that the way they’ve set up the Illusionist feature is to only look for Minor Illusion as a wizard cantrip.
Nothing about the actual text of the class feature says you only get a different cantrip if you have Minor Illusion specifically from being a wizard, so this would be an error on DDB’s part.
Fun experiment for you to do: since high elves specifically choose a “wizard cantrip,” try making a high elf illusionist and take Minor Illusion as your racial cantrip and see if it still doubles up.

Hopefully they correct this, it seems like such an easy fix, to be honest.
Jesus Saves!... Everyone else takes damage.
I tried it and if you choose minor illusion as the racial trait you just have it twice. Thanks for the idea.

I agree and thank you for the link. I had no idea where to go. 😊
As a work around in the meantime you can create a feat to give a cantrip. Make sure your DM is ok with it first if you are a player.
I added a feat to fix this bug, just assign it to your character.
