We haven't yet started exploring the jungles of Chult yet, that's next session.
Currently we're buying supplies and side questing. Our group is currently running number for supplies and who will do what tasks and our GM mentioned looking for good jungle battle maps.
This got me thinking... how FAR can a creature see in the jungle with sight?
How far would you have clear, unobstructed, Line of Sight.
How far would you have lightly obscured vision? (assume everything is half cover?)
How far until it's heavily obscured? dense foliage blocking LOS.
For example, run a google image search for "forest" or "jungle", or something similar. You'll probably find many variants - some that seem pretty open for 15-20 feet, then have another 10-15 feet of foliage you can see behind of (lightly obscured), then it really becomes a green-on-green mess (heavily obscured).
Others may be 5 feet of open ground, going immediately into a veritable wall of foliage - heavily obscured from the get go.
It's relatively safe to say, in any case, that unexplored jungle will rarely allow you to see ahead more than 60 ft, except from hilltops (often with scenic waterfalls!) or some adept tree-climbing. Although the canopy may also cause vision problems, depending on tree type (and fruit-tossing monkeys).
In all honesty, I'd be more worried about how often you'll have to trudge through difficult terrain. :p

So, I'm a player in Tomb of Annihilation.

I'd say it really depends on the environment.
