So I have a Tomb of Annihalation campaign starting soon where I will be playing a celestial warlock, I had the idea that my patron was a Deva; a reincarnating Angel, that was being negatively affected by the death curse in some way through their connection to me and that was my reasoning for this particular endeavor.
In the end it'll be Dm's Choice but does anyone see any problems/expansions on this idea?
I am slightly confused... could you explain to me again what the backstory is? Is the Deva reincarnating as an Aasimar? What curse are you referring to? Of what endeavour are you speaking of?

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."

Seems legit to me, I don't see any possible problem with it :) I also like the will to make the adventuring an actual need for your character beyond "I want power/knowledge/money/glory", which are most often than not the main reasons and quite selfish.
If your patron is better you obviously benefit, but it seems that's a welcome side effect rather than the main reason.

An Angel of Reincarnation, responsible for guiding souls back that are to be reborn? Yeah I would definitely think the Death Curse would be wreaking havoc with someone like that. I see this as a good motivation. Roll DM persuasion check!

Seems legit..****y thing I would chand is the Diva. Diva are CR 10 and dont strike me as powerful enough to grant the powers of a patron. So I would make the patron a Solar and keep the rest the same. Just my 2 cents.

Deva, not diva. Unless they are a Deva diva, but yeah Devas would be on the low end of the angelic power spectrum, but that is more of a flavor thing. Unicorns are mentioned as an option and they are even weaker than a Deva so it is mostly a guideline for ideas.
Sorry for spelling nazism but it bothers me almost as much as a rouge backstabbing someone

I subscribe to the idea that you're not getting power directly from the patron, but learn their other worldly school of magic
