Okay, so running a game with the family during lockdown has turned into every other sunday game night. When asked to give a little brief background on their characters so as to better incorporate them into the world and stories, the elf rouge had written that they fled their family early on to escape the cult they were in. As I had already decided prior that my BBEG was in fact a cult of Orcus, it was a no brainer that this would be the one they were in. Now, as we are getting into the meat of that arc, the party knows her folks are a part of it and that they are actively being pursued by them. There is a time coming when the rouge and her friends get to be reunited with "Mother" (Now a very high priestess) and her "father". I wanted to make her father be the one punished for failing to recapture her when she left. Problem is, I have a couple of options and both are really nasty and i love them.
Option 1: Rouges father was transformed into an "Abyssal abomination", from Mat Mercer's critical roll campaign 1. It's an undead construct, Orcus linked and just a nasty bag of ugly for them to play with.
Option 2: Rougues father was transformed into a Bodak. (Specifically the description from Volo's). This is also a wonderfully nasty undead with a link to Orcus directly AND whatever life it once had which it now seeks to destroy.
Both of these options are beautiful but I'm torn. What do you think?
I would say the abomination, if only so you can twist the knife more and make it still physically resemble her father in some way.

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
I like that. Could also work with the Bodak. Not a recognizable face but mannerisms, going after rogue first, maybe a trinket on it. Just something so, if they defeat it, when she loots him, she finds it and slowly realizes who it once was.
