I am a relative new DM to a campaign, and i could really use som good ideas. I have that this Druid society, has been affected by a magical mushroom spore, by a villain. Do you have any good suggestions on how to cure them? It doesn't have to be a solution that needs to be done right here and now, but there should also be some hints on how to cure them.
Fight fungi with fungi. If they have been afflicted by fungus all over their body, it’s going to be damn near impossible to actually fully cleanse them.
A possible cure would be something like a spore devouring fungus, maybe it reproduces by sticking onto other mushrooms and slowly eating away at it while creating useful anti-fungal substances as a side effect.
A way to hint at it is to maybe show instances of the magical mushrooms being broken down by the substance that the anti-fungus creates, having a small safe haven from getting infected.
How about using Myconids. Their blurb does mention that Myconids enter a group consciousness and use their spore powers for communication and entertainment, unbeknownst to the Myconids they have inadvertantly created an "infected" Dream spell where they perceive the world above through the eyes of the Druids and the entertainment they are experiencing is actually spreading their spores amoung the Druids. This infected communication was caused when the Druids took possession of some fungus from the underdark that carried some Myconid spores. In order to cure it a group of adventurers will need to enter the Underdark and get some special spores from the Myconids to disinfect the Druid circle.
EDIT: Or.....use an Alkilith, its a demon that can be mistaken for fungal growth around a doorway. The Druids have been possessed by some small alkiliths and the Demon Lord Zuggtmoy is using the druids to spread her fungal pets around the material plane. In order to stop it the party need to find and destroy the main Alkilith doorway and then use Restoration spells to stop/cure the infection. If the main doorway is not destroyed then the infection returns 24 hours after the restoration spell is cast.
Maybe the spores only feed on living tissue. So if the person were to die, the spores would leave the body in search of living host to infect. So to "cure" someone, you just need to kill them and then raise them from the dead (assuming you have a spellcaster and a bunch of diamonds handy).
It's the ultimate "Turn It Off And Turn It On Again" solution.

Have tardigrades infest a body looking for spores.
