That site isn't official, and the information presented there appears to be mostly a copy/paste from the race descriptions from Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron. Currently there's no canon example of warforged in Faerun, they're an Eberron race.
Faerum is a huge place, full of portals, full of magic experiments - Mithal, Mithalar, Flying ships from Halruaa, Gnome inventors from Lantan, etc..- If you want to play with a race from a nother setting (like Eberron) in Faerun, talk to your GM give him a good explanation. In our game, placed in Faerun, one of us is a warforged Druidof Spores, a animated and sentient automaton wich awakened because some evil experiments made in his forest. He does not have full memories at all, but he knows the evil must be stoped. I play with a gnome thinker from Lantan and sometimes I´m allowed to build clockwork constructs. My gnome is intrigued how this beautiful machine was made and how sensible it is. This is a beggining of great adventures we will run togeter.
Dragon Magazine 364 (from 4th Edition) has a semi-canonical origin story for warforged in Faerun by Chris Sims. An excerpt:
The mighty human empire of Nerath once spanned hundreds of thousands of square miles. Within its borders, culture and learning flourished, including the study of magic. Wizards and artificers began to advance in the study of constructs, especially homunculi and other responsive creatures.
More than three centuries ago, King Eothyr III opened imperial coffers to the Society of Imperial Artificers, an organization of learned arcanists honored by, but independent of, the king. He set their goal as an adaptive artificial being—one that didn’t imprison another creature, such as an immortal spirit or elemental being, as the spark for sentience. This new being had to be autonomously capable of its tasks and able to learn.
In my Chult campaign, one of my players is a Minotaur from Ravnica. I went with the excuse that since Chult is one of the first landmasses created on Toril,it's a bit of a beacon for Planeswalkers and other dimensional travel. Kinda like the Lost Lands in Turok. In the settlement I created for my players, I got two more Planeswalkers who are from Theros and both my BBEG's are liches. One from Ravnica as well, the other from Greyhawk. Three guesses who THAT guy is.
So if you wanna play a Warforged in Faerun, go nuts my man. As long as you can explain it, you can play it.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

You are correct—I got Nerath confused with Netheril.
4e's Dragon #371 ("Origin Stories: Incorporating Races", pages 40-42) discussed the idea of Warforged in Faerûn, mentioning the following five possibilities:
a one-off wizard experiment
a product of a (non-Thayan) Red Wizard Enclave
coming from Eberron by way of Sigil
travelling from the Returned Abeir nation of Gontal (possibly from a primordial's ancient shattered metallic fortress) or
awakening after a century of slumber near Lantan
That last one is my favorite: prior to Lantan sinking during Faerûn's Spellplague, it was a technologically advanced island (much like the legendary Atlantis) that developed highly advanced clockwork mechanisms and worshipped Gond. Indeed, techsmiths of Gond could construct a mechanical Gondsman as a loyal mechanical warrior, assistant, bodyguard, and friend (confusingly, priests of Gond were sometimes called Gondsmen as well). Also note: Lantan as apparently resurfaced in 5e, so it might be an excellent time for a Gondsman (or similar construct) to appear.

Thanks for the research my dude! I didn't know much of Lantan except it was close to Chult and it had a lot of technology. Has it come back yet in 5e? It shows in the Tomb of Annihilation maps.

Exactly. And the wiki page indicates that (per Sword Coast Adventurers Guide p.71) "In 1487 DR, Lantan was returned to Toril as part of the Second Sundering, and Lantanese ships began to travel again to the Sword Coast. People who traded with them said that the Lantanese were more secretive than before, and that their technology was more advanced as well."
I don't have SCAG, but maybe someone that has it can verify this?

Please keep in mind that with the crystal spheres/spelljammer stuff in earlier editions warforged could totally have made it to the forgotten realms from ebberron. Just write that you were brought back in a curious gnome merchant's spelljammer after he/she met you in ebberron.
A reasonable backstory is a good way to bring in a character not normally seen in a specific realm. I tend to lean towards one that describes a war going on, massive defeat about to occur, and those of high arcane ability using teleportation, gates, and planar travel to escape. If that's not quite enough, add in that the enemy attempted to counter the magic, and it changed the effects of the spell which brought me, my ancestors, or my creator (warforged) to the current realm at some point, bringing their knowledge and skills (and race as applicable) to the new realm. I would not go too far back in the time-line, a couple generations at most depending on lifespan of the race in question.
“Salutations.” Comes the quiet greeting from the corner of the room. An aged, seemingly elderly human male, dressed in immaculate traveling attire sits in an interesting rendition of a tree type of chair. A steaming stone mug sits on the arm of the chair, and a finely worked hilt of a bastard sword in a very well worn scabbard leans against the other arm of the chair.
”If you have a moment, I have a short tale to tell thee of the same creature you refer to as the ‘warforged’.”
Taking a long draw from an ornately carved, bone pipe, his eyes take on a faraway look and he continues…”M’lady, Darromere, upon her last wish and her most powerful working of magic Oerth has seen in many an age, set forth to create, what most studied mages would call a Mythal.”
A sip from the mug and a draw of the pipe later, he continues. “Several things went perfectly according to the spell and her plans…..and…. A few things went awry.”
Looking for a long moment into the depths of his mug, he continues. “Upon the completion of the working of mighty magic, a rift, if you will, occurred.” “ A tear in space and time.”
” And though her spell had all the intended effects, several things she did not intend happened as well.”
Using his finger, he relit his pipe, drawing deeply. Satisfied at the result, he takes another sip from the mug and goes on.
This rift was momentary at best, but potent and spanned the known and apparently, unknown realms. Appearing around the newly formed planetary body, was the lab of what we now know to be a member of the Izzet League.” “You see”, he says as he puffs again on the pipe, “they were also conducting a potent experiment on their world.”
“Sadly, around this time, on the unknown planet of Eberron, the family of Cannith was also experimenting, attempting to find a way around the ban on new warforged creations.”
Tapping on his pipe, he goes on, “All this experimentation, and mighty magic hurling and cosmos altering shenanigans resulted in the rift, and all of these folks, Ravnica guild members and their lab, Cannith house forge masters and forge, appearing in deep space, near the site chosen for the new planetary body in Greyspace.”
”No one knows how or the why of it, and fewer still know of it, but lads and lasses, I was there and witnessed the very thing from the deck of my Shrikeship, ‘Gallant Fury’.”
“Currently, the lab and the forge have been moved into the new base and much discussion is currently ongoing about the whys, wherefore and whithertos of the entire fiasco.”
Puffing his pipe, voluminous clouds form around him… Taking a sip from his cup, he raises it to the room. “As they say, where there is a will, a way will be found.”
As the smoke clears, you find the aged gentlemen is nowhere to be found.
