I've read them described as reflections of the Material plane cast from the energies of the Positive and Negative planes - Feywild as the reflection from the energies cast by the Positive plane, Shadowfell as the reflection from the energies cast by the Negative plane.
I've read them described as shadows or umbrae of the Material plane cast from the opposite energies - shadow cast from the energies of the Positive plane being the Shadowfell, shadow cast from the energies of the Negative plane being the Feywild.

Don’t do that, that is how nightwalkers form. I wonder if the positive plane has a similar creature. Other then that it seems that they can be used as a bridge
Feywild and Shadowfell are the reflections of the prime material plane that along with the positive and negative planes tend to draw on elements of the material plane and amplify the corresponding elements that people find are good and evil. This is why the Feywild is more natural and whimsical in nature and the Shadowfell desolate and has more dark ruins. Because the realms become more abstract as you ascend or descend and further become associated with positive or negative energy. A way to look at it is if the material plane is residing on the surface of water and all the good things float up and above the material plane and all the bad things float down. You can see this illustrated in the PHB. However just because they are associated with either that does not mean there are not good or bad places in either. There are the Fey Lords and Ladies that are not to be trusted for as beautiful as they are they hide the ugliness of their souls. For as dark and desolate there are those who make it their home.
The Positive Plane and Negative Plane are the encompassing planes that hold all the other planes in them. The positive plane gives life, is about life while the Negative plane is all about death or rather an undeath. The positive plane infuses life and helps give the Feywild that wilderness that is more muted on the material plane, and the negative plane gives life in a new life, one of a twisted mirror of the one we know. It gives those who should never have lifelike shadows and the bones and bodies of those who died.
TLDR; Positive Plane attracts good wholesome things like the Feywild, the Negative Plane attracts all the bad dark things like the Shadowfell.

True, but as beautiful as the Feywild is, it’s not all good either. Fomorian giants and Unseelie fae ruled by the Queen of Air and Darkness also come out of the Feywild.
I wish Wizards would do a sourcebook for the Feywild like they did for the Shadowfell.

Same question for the Positive Material Plane and the Feywild.

I cannot recall any official source, though.

Perfect! Thank you 😊.
What about making them like bridges between the Prime Plane and the energy planes?

Mostly nocturnal
