I was recently inspired by a comic I stumbled across to create a Kobold Wild Magic Sorcerer with a bit of a secret. He was accidentally (at least partially) responsible for a wild magic storm, and was dropped into a new location with a bit of a case of mistaken identity to go along with a new species. (He didn’t used to be a kobold.)
I’m trying to figure out an appropriate background. The initial thought was Folk Hero, but the feature isn’t *quite* right for the concept, since his new identity isn’t quite what it used to be. Faceless might be kinda close to what I’m going for since it has a dual-identity flavor, but I’m looking for other suggestions, or even custom background write ups to fit the back story.
I'd probably go with Haunted One from Curse of Strahd. It's a little more intense in flavor than what you have written, but in essence the idea is that it represents a character who has been cursed in some way and whose harrowed appearance motivates others to take them seriously, since they've clearly Seen Some Sh!t. It's got a good selection of proficiencies you can use to tailor it to your specific character.
Or from an optimization perspective, take a Ravnica Background, to expand the list of spells available to your Sorcerer. Especially since Sorcerer subclasses don't expand the Sorcerer spell list, a Background like Boros Leigionnaire giving you Guiding Bolt, or Izzet Engineer giving you Heat Metal can give you some very desirable spells that aren't ordinarily at your disposal. And hey, if you're transformed creature from another world, who's to say that you weren't a member of something like those Guilds that isn't present in your current setting?

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
Far traveler?
Or most likely work with you DM on a custom background. They’re about the easiest thing to homebrew and there’s rules for it in the PHB.
