This is an open call for people to post their favorite two part combos. Simple is good. Cray cray is fine too. Here is mine:
1. Hit em with Contagion. Touch range, no concentration, 5th lvl druid spell. They have to fail three contagion saves but if they do, you choose Slimy Doom. They now have it for 7 days.
2. Leave while casting Heat Metal. No save, 60 ft range. Feel free to do this in round 2 and just let em get a round or two of normal heated metal. Once slimy doom kicks in they are stun locked for the duration of the heat metal. It's extra funny when you come back and renew it.
Polymorph the most dangerous enemy into a Killer Whale (preferably their spellcaster if they have one), use Silvery Barbs if they pass their save, or if another character tries to dispell it, Counterspell that Dispell. That polymorphed enemy now has zero movement on land, and no ranged options, as well as enough hit points that it's not going to be accidentally reverted back to its original form from reaching zero hit points, and the enemy would have to divert a considerable amount of time and effort attacking their ally instead of you to get the killer whale down to zero hit points to bring it back into the fight. It's an all around win as long as you can avoid taking damage so you don't have to make concentration checks (much easier if you have an ally who can give you Greater Invisibility).

I see the 1, but I don't see the 2. All you've got there is a punch.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Paladin/Wizard(Diviner), Metamagic adept (quickenSpell), Bonus Action Hold Person. Give them a 2 on the save. Beat down commences.
Not really a whole lot you're doing there with the multiclass and the feat that you can't just do with a Divination Wizard. Maybe better in a 1v1, but hold person ensures that the beat down commences whether or not you're the one who commences it.

Go arcane trickster rogue with 2 levels of barbarian. Pick up booming blade.
Use reckless attack to give advantage on your boombinng blade attack with a rapier, then use cunning action's bonus action disengage to step out of range, bow, and give the enemy a troll grin and an insult.
Boom, emotional damage that turns into thunder damage if they try to chase you.

But only if your rogue is using STR rather than DEX for the attack, which seems unlikely.
Since Reckless Attack says:
Doing so gives you advantage on melee weapon attack rolls using Strength during this turn, but attack rolls against you have advantage until your next turn.
2 levels of another class just to get advantage on one attack per round is quite an expensive choice to make,

No need for a 2 level dip into a class where you won’t be able to use that classes main feature. Not to mention very few rogues are strength builds. An AT should take find familiar as their free pick and take owl, use the help other action and flyby for no opportunity attacks. Or use flanking rules with another party member. The barb levels do very little and cost you a lot.
This has happened in our game, we were fighting a Shadow Demon

Wouldn't Polymorph + Power Word Kill just revert them to their original form without harming them?
No; power word kill is not a 'reduce to 0 hp' effect, it's a death effect, and the text that makes it hard to kill polymorphed creatures only applies to being reduced to 0 hp.

When your initiative is immediately after the BBEG.
1. First attack is a shove to make them prone.
2. All the rest of your party's melee attacks are at advantage.

Has this happen in our last adventure.
Bard unsettling words to affect WIS save. He rolled a 12 on a d12. Then hold monster.
Party then crits the monster. Ugly.

You get some nice defensive buffs from the multiclass too, and a reasonable 14 in strength with advantage has a pretty good chance to hit.
mostly it’s just nice for generating advantage for sneak attack when you lack some other source of advantage
