I was watching recent DnD online play and think I’ve discovered a trigger to me: Fey. Not their appearance, but their actions.
I’m not sure how to best avoid this in the future. I have no idea if they will come up in my current game or future games, but I don’t want to feel like I’m getting unfair or special treatment.
It's almost always a good idea, when starting a new campaign, to have a "session zero" where the players and the DM discuss stuff like this (among other things). There's some good advice for it in chapter 1 of the 5.5e Dungeon Master's Guide (see here, particularly the part about "Hard and Soft Limits"). A good DM should also be happy to discuss it with you privately.
Ok, I’ll try to bring it up to my current DM privately and see what happens. We already had our session Zero, but we’ve gone through several gaps in time where we’ve had to skip multiple weeks, so it’s possible we may have a session re-zero at some point, but I don’t think I should wait until then anyway.
Also, the actions of the Fey in that online show may be completely different from the way they are portrayed by your DM. Discuss the specific behaviors that cause you difficulty and I'm sure it will work out.
I did mention it to my DM privately and he acknowledged it. Fortunately I was specific on the prankster nature of them. It wasn’t a very in depth response on his part, but he’s probably at work or something.
I guess sometimes it’s just hard for me to separate my character from myself. Heck, I took it personally watching the trigger online, and I wasn’t even playing.

That is a larger issue that you should strive to work on. Betrayal, insults, and pranks are common elements in many D&D games in order to create conflict and narrative tension, and it creates a bad situation at the table if players take those personally (as the DM attacking the player) rather than as the villains of the narrative antagonizing the protagonists of the narrative.
But for now just talk to the DM privately, and maybe set up a "safe word" if they accidentally start doing something that makes you uncomfortable.

A somewhat common way to do this (for in-person games at least) is to have a card with an X on it on the table, which anyone can tap on if they want to call out something like this.
…now that you mention it… there are some players at are table that are doing stuff privately with the DM. I do worry if they are planning something against the party as a whole, but I guess I always assumed there was a sort of etiquette that kept players from doing such things. On one hand, it wasn’t brought up in session zero, but then again the players involved joined during the campaign anyway.
but yeah, you’re probably right about me avoiding confrontation like that. It honestly keeps me from watching certain shows or movies. I guess it’s something I need to work on. Sorry if this post got too deep for what is meant to be just a game.

Good point. I never thought of that.

Anyway, thank you for the feedback.
