Ever somehow come into possession of a really cool ingested poison, then carry it around for months waiting for a villain to dine with you to no avail? Wait no more! There are MANY monsters, especially in trendy modules, with a SWALLOW attack... Simply pour it all over yourself at the beginning of the fight. Happy brawling!
I had that exact thing happen in my last campaign! The party I was DM'ing for was a chaotic bunch, and they were fighting an evil cult that wanted to poison and conquer the world. So after clearing an evil cult temple, the party found a vial of an unknown form of poison. An NPC they knew told them it was a particularly nasty poison that, if poured into a lake or a city's water supply, could kill thousands of people. It was a nuke in a bottle. So... a bunch of months go by and the party is at sea when they get attacked by The Kraken. The Kraken is wrapping tentacles around the ship, crushing it, blowing hot steam on everyone, a real mess. The dwarf cleric got grappled by a tentacle and gets drawn toward the Kraken's mouth. On his turn I asked him to make a roll to escape the grapple. He said, "No, I'm going in." After taking a bunch of digestive damage, he confirmed that it's a bonus action to open a potion vial, so I asked him what potion is going to drink. He said, "Oh I'm not drinking it, the Kraken is." That's when we all remembered that he had the Poison Nuke. So he fed the Kraken a vial of poison that does thousands of hit points of damage and then Plane Shifted to his deity's home plane. The rest of the party saw him get swallowed, then saw the Kraken disengage and swim fast and deep. It was a good ten minutes before the dwarf cleric found his way back to the boat. Two weeks later a dead Kraken washed up on a beach somewhere, but by then the party was in a different part of the world and didn't see it.
When I put that vial of poison in that temple, I honestly thought someone in the party would just drink it to see what it was. Oh well.
Friendly reminder that, depending on the setting, poison resistance/immunity is one of the most common among enemy NPCs. If somebody burned a feat to be a poisoner, give them a little love for building for flavor rather than optimization.
While we’re on the topic, anybody have a streamlined fix for Alchemist? I feel like it’s one of the most interesting subclasses with the frigging worst abilities

Regarding Poisoner, note that the 2024 feat at least already ignores Resistance. Immunity is rarer, and it’s okay to have one feature fizzle on occasion.

Not exactly, but I have a wizard-subclass that can be an alchemist: https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/2199578-artisan-artificer-2024
