Sorcerers are my favorite class by far, but I wanted to try a fighter class. I really like the idea of a samurai who has a draconic bloodline and uses sorcery to enhance their combat. I was thinking of implementing green-flame blade and/or booming blade with twinning / quickening metamagic.
What's the best way I could make this multiclass happen?
I think I'd do a 10/10 split. You could go as an armorless Samurai with this if you pick up Mage Armor.
I'd start with Mage Armor and Shield at 1st level Sorcerer, from there in Sorcerer levels I'd pick up Charm Person, Shadow Blade, Misty Step, Counterspell, Dispel Magic, Banishment, Stoneskin, Control Winds, and finally Wall of Stone. Mage Armor lasts 8 Hours so you'd never need armor. Might as well wield a Nodachi (Great Sword) as well.
Ah, yes- forgot that. So no, you wouldn't need Mage Armor. Can't really think of any 1st Level Sorcerer Spell that fits the idea at the moment though.
Unfortunately Sorcerers don't get things like Magic Weapon or Elemental Weapon, kind of limiting options. A Magic Initiate Feat will be able to pick up things you usually can't.
Maybe I could go disguise self or shield instead of mage armor. In terms of leveling order should I just go 10 fighter, then 10 sorc? Or maybe 11 fighter so I get another extra attack? Or should I be mixing it up?
A Fighter turning 11 gets extra attack but a Sorcerer turning 10 gets an extra Metamagic, their 6th cantrip, a second 5th level spell slot and an 11th learned spell. So going 11F/9S, I believe that's too high a cost for just 1 extra melee attack - which as a half-caster you won't even be using every round.
i actually am also in the process of making a fighter/sorcerer. I plan on making doing a 2 fighter/X storm sorcerer split, but I'm really not sure how its going to work out.

The melee cantrips GFB and BB don't allow you to use multiple attacks.. I am currently playing a fighter / Storm sorc. In this case I am planning to use meta magic to Twinned Spell Booming Blade, which seems to be legal to effectively get two melee attacks.
As a fighter you can wear armor...so why not. I went fighter first as story arc and can wear heavy armor. Campaign started at 11 so character is fighter 1 storm sorcerer 10.
I would not take fighter levels past 2 or 3. 2 gets you action bonus (only way to cast three spells in a turn I believe...) and three to get the specialty Samauri (or Eldritch knight)
Agree with Burgen up to a point. It is true that the "attack spells" do not benefit from Extra Attack. Meaning Fighter 1, 2, or 3 is a logical stopping point for many builds.
However sometimes you want a little more Fighter so you can pick up the 7th level Martial Archetype abilities, get more Feats/Ability Increases, get more Hit Points, and sometimes your specifically creating a build based on the idea of a Paladin-esque Bard/Sorcerer/Warlock/Wizard which is where I generally default to 10 each.
Unfortunately Sorcerer's 3rd Subclass Feature is at 14th level, making it impossible to get along with War Magic or the like. If you want a Lightning Focused Spell Warrior why not consider Fighter (Eldritch Knight) 7/Cleric (Tempest) 13? This would give you an 8th level spell slot and War Magic on the same character. If your set on Storm Sorcerer then I would have to agree to say that you need to keep the Fighter Levels low.

Draconic Bloodline Sorcerers already get 13+Dex AC calculation so Mage Armor and the like wouldn't offer any benefit and frees up a spell.
