I've recently watched the Witcher series on Netflix, and I just got The Witcher 3. I really want to make a character reminiscent of Geralt of Rivia. I've already got my race figured out, but I'm torn between Blood Hunter and Ranger. I only have the base version of Dndbeyond, so if you have any other suggestions, keep that in mind. Thank you.
I would say that blood hunter is better for the magicy stuff, especially thematically. Ranger is better for a wilderness monster tracker and killer. I would say multiclass, but ranger uses wisdom and dex, but blood hunter uses intelligence. Maybe ask your DM if you can use wisdom for blood curses and such with blood hunter. What race do you have? Although it isn't Geralt, I created an Aarackocra blood hunter, who was very well rounded. He had 15 strength, 14 int, 14 dex, 13 con. High elf is a good pick, as is wood elf. But what is your race?

You don't have the wild magic feat or psyonics. I'm guessing you haven't bought the PHB on here? If you have, then starting off blood hunter, taking longsword and getting resilient wisdom. Put plus one into dex and int from race. If you don't have the PHB on here, I would say just go for normal human. Half elves are pretty good, and useful for dump stat charisma. Put plus one in wisdom and dex, then you'll have 16 dex, 14 wisdom and intelligence.

Yeah, sorry. I would say go either normal human or half elf. But, for Geralt, what part of him do you prefer? The mutated hunter part or the wilderness tracker?

Then blood hunter is the way to go. You may also want to think about the order: do you want to have strengths and weaknesses thanks to order of the mutant? Or possess the abilities of animals and lycanthropy? Or have a pact with something? Or just be a good old ghostslayer and get a radiant damage rite at level three?

Nice. Just be careful of nighteye, as the trade-off is sunlight sensitivity. I can't remember off the top of my head, but is there one that gives you advantage at all? Cause that would go cancel out the sunlight sensitivity.

Variant.
I should switch to normal, shouldn't I?
Not necessarily. Variant is better if you want to go single class, normal for multiclassing. What feat have you chosen?

It marked my last message as spam, but I picked Metabolic Control.

Mutated hunter.

I would like order of the mutant. Off topic question, should I multi class ranger?
If you feel like it would add some good combat, exploration and roleplay potential, then yes. At least two of the three.

For mutations I picked Nighteye, one that increases dex, one that makes me immune to grapple, and one that lets me move 10 more ft.
Scratch the dex one, it's actually fire resistance.
What should I pick for a blood curse?

I don't think there's anything to counteract that.
