So Im a long time DM who is getting to PC in a weekly Dungeon of the Mad Mage by a first time DM. Im playing the token halfling diviner build and we just hit lvl7.
Is it TOO cheesy to impose the Arcane Spell on this DM? On one hand, if there was a campaign where the spell should shine its this one and I'd be totally fine with it if I were DMing. On the other hand, this guy last played in 2e and like to have the odds stacked against the players and this spell may be seen as boring by him.
To be honest, I know this dungeon is FILLED with doors to stop it, I just want it to really get get back a 3rd level slot more so than anything!

Hjalmar Gunderson, Vuman Alchemist Plague Doctor in a HB Campaign, Post Netherese Invasion Cormyr (lvl20 retired) Godfrey, Autognome Butler in Ghosts of Saltmarsh into Spelljammer Grímr Skeggisson, Goliath Rune Knight in Rime of the Frostmaiden DM of two HB campaigns set in the same world.
I don't think it's cheesy at all. It's a 4th-level spell and only lasts an hour. Add that to the fact that there are plenty of doors that will block it, and it will be useful but not broken. Mapping out unseen areas is a big part of what the spell is good for.
