I'm voting for Yurei's Santa's Little Helper build as well.

All stars fade. Some stars forever fall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Homebrew (Mostly Outdated):Magic Items,Monsters,Spells,Subclasses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there was no light, people wouldn't fear the dark.
Since the theme of this Throwdown is Christmas, I am voting for the build that I think best represents the intended mood of the holiday: giving and receiving. Yes, snow and reindeer and presents wrapped in gaudy paper are often associated with Christmas, but distilled down to its most basic without going too far down the "birth of Christ" road Christmas is about generosity and helping the less fortunate. In other words, it's really about kindness, not baubles. Certainly not setting people on fire or electrocuting them (as hilarious as that may occasionally be).
As such I am voting for Sutlo's "Santa Clause" because it's the character with both theme and mechanics that flow with the spiral at the heart of Christmas: thinking of the joy of others and giving of oneself to bring them that spark of gladness in the coldest, darkest season of the year.
Third Sundering’s Krampus It’s almost eerie how well the Beast barbarian fits Krampus. There’s really no need for a multiclass at all – just bolt Path of the Beast onto a satyr and you’re good to go. I like the stretch for 20 Charisma and expertise in Intimidation, really drive home the nightmarish aspect of this awful old folktale. Monoclass builds usually get short shrift in these showdowns, it’s cool to see one turn up where it works.
Sutlo’s Actual Santa This is actually a really cool take on the Santa Claus of modern myth. Flying reindeer? Check. Uncannily good craftsmanship? Check. Toys for everybody? Check. Levitating sleigh? Check. Actual Santa here is exactly that – a believable riff on creating a real, proper Santa Claus. Good work, Sutlo.
HomebrewDragonSlayer’s Yrys, the Cryomancer Unfortunately this build entry is very thin, without much to go on. Primarily seems focused around an expensive lategame combo with multiple Glyphs of Warding, but there’s little mention of Christmas spirit here. Or of much anything really. Sorry HBDS, gonna have to ding you on this one. Nevertheless, welcome to Throwdown Town. Hoping to see a stronger attempt next time, when there’s less holiday rush.
Transmorpher’s Kevin McAllister I legit cracked up reading this one. The amount of movie jokes packed into this build is amazing, and the HeroForge is priceless. Kevin McAllister is a Christmas legend in his own right by this point, and a Thief/Artillerist multiclass focusing on making one fixed location a living hell for intruders is the sort of thing that could be a one-shot in its own right. Hats off to you, good sir. I appreciate the comedy.
BramblefootDruid’s Nunu and Willump You don’t see many true duo characters in D&D, the game really hates letting people build effective partnerships. This is a cool stab at telling the game to make it happen anyways, and a neat rebuild of another League of Legends character. It’s the sort of character you’d expect to encounter in a snowy Christmasvale setting, perhaps a little boy who’s met the Big Man himself once or twice. Not bad at all, Bramble.
Final Vote I’m legit torn. I appreciate Sutlo building a true and proper Santa Claus for the Christmas contest, but hell if Kevin McAllister isn’t freaking hilarious. Both are splendid entries, making creative use of unconventional mechanics and combinations to produce a very against-the-grain build.
In the end, I think I’m going to give it to Sutlo’s Actual Santa. Mostly because Song of Blues has a solid point – the Christmas season is about more than memes (even treasured, time-honored ones like Kevin). This year especially, we could all do with a little bit of remembering what the spirit of the holidays truly is, and Sutlo’s build does a good job of evoking that spirit. Kevin McAllister is a very close second, but alas, no medals for second place in build throwdowns.
Merry Christmas, everyone. Good work, and happy gaming in the next, hopefully less disease-riddled and awful year.

Overall, I loved the theme of these two too much. And it's more fun to roleplay two people!

I agree that the Beast Barbarian works very well with Krampus. Thanks for the kind words.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
BramblefootDruid’s Nunu and Willump You don’t see many true duo characters in D&D, the game really hates letting people build effective partnerships.
I agree with this part especially. I would like to see a Throwdown where two characters are built for the purpose of synergy with each other's abilities. Naturally, it would take longer to think of all the possible ways that characters' abilities would work together. There are several subclasses that just don't get any spotlight in these matchups unless there is part of the subjective scoring system takes into consideration that D&D is sort of a team game.
I think df is just having his well deserved rest after new year and Christmas. Everyone deserves it after 2020!
Since DF should have his rest, but I don't want to see this thread be lost too fast now I made a (non official ofc.) count of the votes (I didn't check if everybody that submitted a build voted but whatever, doesn't seem to be relevant for finding the winner).
Thanks to all of you for competing! I loved all the crazy builds and want to mention them all, too.
First the ones wich got overwhelmed in the hard fight for votes but submitted GREAT! builds nonetheless. Here we find Krampus by ThirdSundering - I would love to build a beast barb one day and you gave a great insight what to do with that subclass - also bonus points for sticking with one class - which isn't easy in some of those throwdowns. The second build is Yrys the Cryomancer by HomebrewDragonSlayer - taking it another way than everyone else in this challenge and not taking a classical figur of christmas, the build seems pretty solid - bit of a minimalist aproach.
The ones that got one vote each are another two of my favorite builds here: There is BramblefootDruid with Nunu and Willump: I played LoL some time maybe almost a decade ago. I didn't know any of the lore about Nunu and Willump - thanks for bringing that great story to us! The build is great, having the classic "Duo" aproach - although 5e doesn't always support that , you made it work! And secondly the build I voted for and will keep on my (already too long) bucket list of characters: Kevin McCallister by TransmorpherDDS: He's mean, he's tricky, he is a MASSIVE pain in the ass and he'll rip you a new one! I love this build just for the idea of actually getting all the traps he uses in there. All of this would have been worth a win in my opinion!
With three votes my little build of the fatman himself Santa Claus got second place. Not much to say here exept thanks for all the lovely featback and the votes! :)
And last but not least, who'd have thought, Yurei got herself another win with her build of Santa's little Helper - She didn't only build a cool build without multiclass and in my favorite class, which is absolutely playable and a great charakter with a great story, she also invented a fitting setting with it that explains so much and makes this character a great new entry in the hall of fame! :)
I hope I didn't overstep here with tallying up those votes unofficially (DF can just go and make an official post when he's back), thank you all for this challenge overflowing with brutally good charakters!
EDIT: Also one thing I think we might need to consider when ALL those builds keep being so great and the winning is just by margins is maybe considering a more complex voting system: Maybe we could make a point system so every voter can put points in more than one build (like 3 to the first , 2 to the second, 1 to the third or something like that). I think that might make a better picture - I don't think any of the builds here should go out without points in a system like that - me alone I would have given points to two builds in this challenge that now got no other points!
I'm voting for Yurei's Santa's Little Helper build as well.
