More I think about it, the more Ceremony is broken with Find Familiar. Everyone would have a familiar. There are people who take an entire feat just to get to cast that one spell one time, and Ceremony does it with a single first level spell slot.
And a Feat or a Level or a Wizard friend, plus 35gp each time it dies. You have to have both Ceremony and Find Familiar and the money.
So it's not that easy to get, you are wasting limited resources on this. ie. feat/level

What are you talking about? It'a an ordinary spell. No feat or level involved. I was saying I know people who previous to this would go so far as to take a feat just to get this spell for their character - but that's no longer needed. NOW, the wizard is able to pass you the spell, for a single 1st level spell slot temporarily. ANY day - even on a downtime day when those slots otherwise do nothing. So it's literally just 35 gp to do it. Heck, the DMG guidelines give costs to hire a wizard to cast a 1st level spell for you I believe so you could even do it that way for a bit more money. And you get a familiar who can do things like use the help action every turn! Or spy for you!
Find Familiar was never intended to be passed off to other classes. This bypasses that - for very little cost.

Ceremony is a Cleric/Paladin spell, Find Familiar is not. In order for a Cleric to pass the Find Familiar spell over via Ceremony, they would need to either take a level of wizard/sorcerer or take the Ritual Caster feat and have Find Familiar as one of the spells.

Ah, right, I had not noticed that. Ceremony is itself a 1st level spell, right? Can you pass the Ceremony spell itself to the wizard (25 gp). The wizard then casts Ceremony, to pass the find familiar spell? Or is there an issue with the "cast the spell within 1 hour" issue?
You don't think that the primal savagery will be underpowered since the caster needs to use a whole action to cast the spell, then attack? I was wondering if they would make it a free action spell.
"Make a melee spell attack against one creature within 5 feet of you."
I believe casting & the attack are considered one action.

Yes spell and attack are one action together. Like Produce flame.
My party's necromancer is ecstatic to see Toll the Dead and Cause Fear. Puppet and Infestation might be down his alley too. Nice for him to have some stuff to play with before Animate dead. On the other hand the paladin will be amused to have the Funeral Rite part of Ceremony.

Toll the Dead is on the list for my 'lock when a cantrip opens up for him. Eldritch Blast until something gets to close then TotD. Keep those that want to hug him with claws and teeth and weapons away from him.
Toll the Dead and Puppet make me want to design a caster with a spell list completely based around Metallica songs. Maybe play a single audio cord or sound effect from the song while casting the spell even.
Ydnarski you're my hero for that btw, huge Metallica fan here.
Here are my comments and questions about the spells: Infestation- if the movement causes them to move into an occupied space what happens? Does it vary if it's a hostile vs. friendly creature or does nothing happen at all?
Puppet- same type of question as previous, what happens if the move would cause them to collide with another creature?
Toll the dead- love the flavor and the spell, I wish the output was better, I can't see any reason to use this over Eldritch blast except for flavor/fun
Unearthly Chorus- I would have assumed using your bonus action to charm effect could only be used on one target but the wording "..use a bonus action on each of your turns.." leads me to question that. So you could charm a whole mass of creatures using your bonus action each turn?
Zephyr strike- the clarification on this one makes it a lot less useful, advantage and extra speed only on the first round then no OA's after
Overall I loved what they did here, several of these will immediately be swapped in for my characters I just thought a few mentioned above needed some clarification.
I love the Toll the Dead cantrip its really atmospheric, even though Eldritch Blast has more advantages such as being Force damage, Eldritch Invocations and works well with the Lucky Feat.
I have not used Puppet yet, itching to give it a play.
My friend is a ranger named Zephyr who is themed as a ronin in an Oriental setting. (He's had this character for two years.)
Zephyr Strike (appropriately named) is absolutely perfect for him, he gets initiative, runs up to the enemy, attacks with advantage, uses Zephyr Strike, attacks with advantage again and then moves 30 feet past his enemy.
Just like in those samurai movies where they charge and draw their sword, killing the opponent before they have a chance to attack.

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of
Toll The Dead makes me think of an Undying or Raven Queen Tomelock who is Light Yagami
Clerks and Druids need a Long range Cantrip attack for the love of god :(

He doesn't like hugs.

I like having more options and tricks at a lower level to pull from. I can't wait to use puppet on someone!
