I know it had been in a couple of video games (Dark Alliance 2), but why not a subclass for barbarian, or fighter, which can wield melee weapons with 'two-handed' property with one-hand, possibly excluding weapons with the 'reach' property.
For those, who will now show shout 'overpowered' or 'broken', imho it's is quite a long way to a Valour Bard (with a certain build), or a Moon Druid right now, so why not imagining?
Since the Dual Wielder feat as well as the Two-Weapon Fighting style only work with weapons, which have the 'light' property, this should be covered by subclass feats, probably at 3rd and 7th level. The lvl 10 subclass feat should have defensive function, while the level 15 capstone might be an innate 'nick' mastery altered to fit heavy weapons.

It feels more like a feat to me than something to build a whole subclass around.
