I understand not wanting to outshine the moon druid but this subclasses main ability is becoming Godzilla. If you aren’t going to give your wannabe Godzilla better HP and AC then a bear then you need to make up the defensive difference with something like damage resistance. I definitely like the concept and look forward to seeing it in action at the table.
When worrying about outshining the moon druid I'd ask is the moon druid balanced as is. if it sucks, yeah sure go ahead and outshine it. If its balanced then don't. I have not played one, but it seems to have mostly the same flaws as the 5.0 version which is its great when you take the sub class but falls behind hard. I think they should patch the moon druid so it uses its own proficiency bonus or something when attacking.

It's one of the strongest Druid subclasses, if not the strongest. It is certainly the strongest Wildshape subclass.
