I just wanted to say that the Brute archetype which is currently listed as Unofficial and for playtesting on the D&D Beyond under the Fighter link is pretty awesome. I have multiple characters I use in other games and one of them I was a Bard who multiclassed into a Fighter and eventually chose the Brute archetype. Another I started as a Fighter and when I became 3rd level I immediately chose the Brute. Along with the fighting style at first level which was Defense, the Brute can be a strong frontline soldier during battles and could even rival barbarians and paladins when it comes to taking blows and giving them. I support the idea of this unofficial archetype which is being playtested to become official and to show in the next D&D product. Also if there was a thread for the Brute archetype... My experience with this archetype may be minimal but I can pretty much tell that this pretty amazing. When I was a level 10 Valor Bard and level 3 Fighter with the Brute Archetype, I'm no longer a support character but I am in the fray protecting my wizard and sorcerer friend with my fellow paladin. I have an AC of 16 and the paladin has 18 but I make up for it by hitting harder than the paladin. One time I used my Maul and landed a hit so I did 2d6 + bonus damage of 4 + 1d4 from the Brute's Brute Force feature. Since I am a level 10 valor bard I had an extra attack. So if I do attack twice and hit twice I can do basically do 4d6 + damage bonus of 8 + 2d4. I can at most do 40 points of damage. And if I used action surge which I have only 1, that can be at most 80 points of damage. The the chances are low for that but still possible.
In short I support the Brute archetype for the Fighter, read more about it on the Fighter page here on the site
The issue is it wont become official because Mike Mearls mentioned during one of the Happy fun hours, that it didn't make the grade during testing that wizards looks at to release an option. So D&D Beyond wont make it official unless Wizards refines it to a point it will make their acceptance level.
In short your stuck with it as Home-brew or UA or the foreseeable future.
While it is great that you are enjoying the archetype you may want to be aware, if you are not already, that D&D Beyond has zero say on what does or does not become official. The status of such content is decided by Wizards of the Coast, a separate company altogether and who are the publishers of Dungeons and Dragons. There is little point in asking D&D Beyond to make something official, they cannot do so until Wizards of the Coast release that content as official.
If you just want to discuss the archetype, since it is an Uneathed Arcana subclass you can discuss it in more detail in the Unearthed Arcana forum. It's a forum specifically for discussing Unearthed Arcana playtest stuff. There is already a thread open for discussing the Brute archetype here.
