So I have about $100 to spend for now. Buying PHB, DMG, MM and thinking either SCAG or XGtE. I guess I could skip the DMG for now and pick both of these up instead. Thoughts?

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
Xanathar's is the better choice, then Volo's, then Sword Coast. DMG is not that necessary unless you are a new DM or need magic items.
100% agree with this. You don't even need to buy Volo's or SCAG if you're not going to actually read the lore in them. You can buy the Volo's races for $9.99 (you can still pick an Aasimar subrace from the character creator without buying the subraces.) Likewise, you can save a bit of money on SCAG by buying only the player options for $23.95 (less if you don't care about certain bits like backgrounds.)
Also keep in mind most of the SCAG options are very closely tied to Faerun so make sure your DM is OK with you using them if they use a different setting. The options in XGtE are suitable for every setting.
You also don't need the Monster Manual as a player.
as a player get the Players Handbook, Volo's, SCAG, and Xanathars will give you all the players options pou there. Xanathars does include a fair amount of SCAG stuff in it, but not everything. I got the legendary bundle here and am still 100% saying it is a great deal. I for now on only buying adventures here on DDB and buying actual rulebooks here and physical copies for at home.
yeah, only in a pbp. I will eventually pick up the DMG and MM anyways, it's just what to get "right now". Will end up with the Legendary Bundle anyways.

If you're approaching this as a player, then I'd drop the DMG - there's very little content in there for a player.

Forgot about Volo's. Drop MM for that one.

As a player, I would say the order of priority for buying books should be PHB > XGTE > VGTM > SCAG. Those will give you the best bang for the buck
