Will there ever be a description on each skill or do you guys think it will be left as is for the DM to figure it out for their own games?

Descriptions on Skills? They are in there, listed under each of the different abilities they are tied to. As an example the ones tied to Strength are found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/basic-rules/using-ability-scores/strength
