I have a player running a Sorcerer and I've agreed to let him use a homebrewed Expanded Spell list like the Sorcerer subclasses in TCOE have, however I can't figure out how to give a character a spell outside of their normal class progression. We both want these spells to show up on his Character Sheet like all the other spells he knows but we can't think of anything more than going to the notes section of his character sheet and just writing "Note: Also knows these other spells"
Either you or him will need to create a homebrew version of the subclass and add a hidden subclass feature that adds the spells (you can specify it uses spell slots but doesn't count as spells known - this adds it without the limit of maximum known spells). If you create a copy of the Aberrant or Clockwork subclasses you will be able to see how the extra spells can be added.

Also can Do a homebrew feat - copy magic initiate or ritual caster
This won't work as the OP wants (using spellslots like any other spell taken through the class).
