I know I asked about guidance, or bless. I think if I can figure this out I can solve my main problem. The main thing is during character creation the players each got a blessing which gave them effectively Guidance on that one skill. I've seen in several threads to make a magic item that grants whatever buff, and I've done this. In homebrew the item has a modifier bonus set to 1d4 for the skills, but it doesn't roll the d4 when I test the check.

Yeah, about the best option right now is for your players to add a custom skill named something like, "Intimidation + 1d4" with the appropriate ability & proficiency settings, so at least there's a note of their special skill on the sheet. No way to alter the name of a normal skill for this purpose.
do you know if there’s a place to mark that a character was given guidance regularly? I keep my character sheet in the app and aim worried I’ll forget I have it
add the homebrew feat "add spells". Add guidance or bless.
OP meant the effects of Guidance and Bless, not the spells themselves.

Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.

Oh, they want the dragonmark or verdalken features that let them add a d4 to certain checks. Huh, i guess some people use bless as a genericism rather than the specific spell. Kinda like how some people call all soda, coke?

There's no official thing on the character sheet to do this, and I have a similar need for things like keeping track of a minute-long wild-magic surge effect, especially since our sessions are short so combat usually is split across multiple weeks. What you can do is homebrew a magic item (usually set as an Artifact so shows up at the top of Inventory) to show a message in the Saving Throws box that you have Guidance in effect on you - clicking the box to Equip it will make that message show up. You can keep it at the top of your main Equipment in Inventory if this is a frequent thing that might be hanging between sessions.
To add this message to a homebrew magic item: go to Modifiers and click the "Add a Modifier" box, then it takes you to a new page. There select Bonus for Modifier Type, then Saving Throws for Modifier Subtype, then 0 for Fixed Value, then in the Details box write a message like "Guidance: +1d4 to 1 ability check". You have to make sure to unequip the item after you've used the Guidance, of course.
So I made a video showing a way to add the Guidance effect to the character sheet and have a way to track whether you have it or not. It's not the best, but I find it convenient enough.

If you have <b><a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/guidance" target="_new">Guidance</a></b> you can add <b>1d4</b> to any Skill Check

Not possible.
For now just roll the d4 next and do math.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping I had a work around. I hope I will in the future. :-)

DDB is great, but it could be better. Here are some things I think could improve DDB
