So, I'm starting a new campaign m, but this one is at my FLGS (first time doing a campaign outside the house). I already have the physical book but carting about the various cards etc...seems a bit more flaff than I'd like. So, my thoughts were to buy the monsters section of the book. A couple of questions, though:
1. How is it presented in the app? You don't get the encounters etc...so how do you view the statblocks?
2. If you buy the whole book, you get the MM entries that are used in the adventure unlocked as well. I'm guessing that isn't the case if you just buy the monster section?

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
If you buy an adventure, you get the monster stat blocks that are unique to the adventure (printed in the back of the book), and any monsters that are part of the free content list. Monsters that aren't free, that appear in, say, the Monster Manual, do not appear.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
If you purchase the digital version of the adventure you should get all the monsters.
If you know the monster you want search for it in DND BeyonD
If you own the content it will show you the monster.
For this example search for Arasta
Select Arasta and it will navigate to Mythic Odssey's of Theros and tell you how much it costs to buy.
If you scroll down it will show you the things you can buy from the book, or buy all things in a section all at once.
Arasta is a monster.
If you scroll down to monsters you will see there are 51 in this book.
Arasta costs $1.99 to purchase.
However, you can buy all 51 for $9.99 which is a much better value.
Conversely you can buy the entire book for $29.99 which is a huge savings over buying everything one at a time
The question is whether I get the MM entries relevant to the adventure as well. Staff have said yes (for buying the whole book), but metamongoose says no. I'm also dubious as to whether I'd get them for buying just the section.
If I did, I'd be sold and would get it. On the other hand, if you don't, then I've still got to worry about those monsters (which are actually the more important ones since the book has the unique statblocks printed in it) so it makes it pointless. Or I can pay $60 overall for the MM entries as well as the adventure...but that's getting very steep given that I already have both in physical form and monster cards for the MM statblocks.

If would be helpful if you told us what you want to buy
Presuming that when you say "in the app" you mean the mobile app, you would fin them under "listings" (you would need to choose the type of list at the very top; when I tapped listings, it first showed me the spells list). I can;''t easily tell you if all the lore is there that might be in the book, but the statblock is. It's divided up into tabs (Stats, Actions, description, etc.)
You can see what I mean by looking at one of the free statblocks.
You will want to make sure that you have downloaded all the statblocks to your device ahead of the game.
If you have wifi access at the flgs, and if you have a tablet device, you can still use the encounter builder in the browser.
