When I saw the title I was worried you were referring to something else, but, yep, in their videos discussing the races, they were very open about having Star Frontiers as an inspiration as to which races to include. I do miss that game and had a ton of fun with it growing up!
I was worried you meant the new Star Frontiers by nuTSR which is.....bad, to say the least haha.
I heard it was racist. The new one I mean.
It is. Not even in the "echoes some problematic stereotypes" sort of way, but in the blatantly including extremely racist stats sort of way. I don't recommend looking it up, but the info is out there, including the WotC lawsuit to stop them from releasing it and likely in the forthcoming WotC lawsuit they allude to about seeking damages to the WotC brand for trying to release something so blatantly racist that might be associated with them.
Back to the original point, it's funny how tastes can change. Back in the day, I was a huge vrusk fan and didn't really care much for the other races, especially the dralasites. But as soon as the UA was released with the plasmoids, I wrote up a dralasite guest NPC for our game that week and would love to play one as a full PC someday.

I'm normally reluctant to use the r word since it gets thrown around as a go-to insult, but yeah, it's undeniably racist. I would refuse to buy it because of the racism present.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Here's a link to an article about it that lays everything out pretty explicitly. Obviously, trigger warning for explicit racism, transphobia, etc:

Thri-kreen = Vrusk
Hadozee = Yazarians
Plasmoid = Dralasite
Forgive my ignorance but what are you on about?

I still have that game.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).

Thank you. I read the article and yeah, it’s pretty bad.

Wow. I was morbidly curious and checked the article. I was not expecting it to be that blatant.
Its so bad I am not even sure if its real.
