Seemingly unavailable to current subscribers, only to bring in new subs.
Now... There's a fair amount of acrimony been going on and not from the player base. It would seem "nice" if this perk were extended to those of us that haven't ditched our subscriptions... and go a way towards a believable "sorry".
Anyhoo, let it erupt.
My tuppence, I was 3 or so months into a new campaign when the OGL debacle erupted and that came with maybe 4-5 months left of my subscription plan, so... "let it run, see how this pans out". I'll probably abandon D&D for Pathfinder or venture into the wide-world of other TTRPG's. I think I'm "done" when my current (very enjoyable) Campaign ends.
BUT - free stuff is nice and Wotc need to eat some humble pie - the only thing that seems to matter to them is the money, so it's the only course of action I could "believe meaningful". Them's my feelings.
It may not be technically feasible if they already have you in their system, the whole point of the free trial is to have you set up payment info which will automatically start charging you unless you proactively unsubscribe.

Who is eligible for the 30-day free trial? Any registered D&D Beyond user who does not have an active subscription and has not previously used a free trial for D&D Beyond qualifies for this offer.
Enjoy!
Doesn't say anything about having been a subscriber, only that you are not currently subscribed and that you haven't had a free trial before (both fairly standard clauses). I see no reason why, once your sub expires, you can't just take your free trial at that point.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Yep! My subscription did not renew automatically because of card issues, so I just used a different card instead. When I tried to resubscribe, I could not figure out how to resubscribe normally, and it feels like the site just forced the free trial on me. I wanted to save the free trial for later down the line, but I guess using it now is fine too.
I recently learned about this, through you folks. As someone who refuses to enter into any automatic renewal plans, from any business, I have chosen to ignore the offer.

That’s probably smart, do they require card details to charge you though?

You don't need to be a subscriber to use D&D Beyond, just utilize the features attached to the two tiers of subscription. There are lots of DDB users who don't subscribe to DDB.
The perks vary from month to month. Sometimes they're dice, more often I think they are cosmetic enhancement to character sheets. February's perk was a set of 4 backdrops for character sheets. March's hasn't been announced. I think sometimes one just doesn't materialize. They're a recent addition to incentivize subscriptions beyond the sub features.

Ima wait for dice, dice are special, or character frames, need some of em.

You do, however, need to link a payment option in order to use the free trial. It's like any other free trial in that way.
Seriously, it is common practice for companies to run this kind of promotion to GAIN customers. It's a given that current customers do not get the deal... And connecting this to the OGL stuff? I am EAGER for ALL the people promising to abandon D&D for Pathfinder or whatever to do so. WOTC did something the customers did not like, customers complained, vehemently and WOTC totally rolled back that thing. And more. Yet customers still feel they deserve more?? Go! Find another place to whine and complain. And please, break out the pitchforks and torches when they make a mistake as quickly and violently as you did for WotC. But mostly... Just follow through on the threat to leave. Please.
I mean yeah tying a free month into a penance for the OGL is laying on the justification really thick. That said, I'm not going to fault people someone for saving what is it $5 or so for one month if that sort of savings really matters to them. To some folks cancelling your subscription and then resubbing isn't worth the time. To others, it is. I don't think the intention was to let the existing subscribing base grab a free month through an unsub/sub loophole, but again if someone wants to take advantage of the exploit and spread the word, that's all fine.

I think if you take a deep breath and re-read my original post - you'll still think I'm "entitled", but I'm paying for something... I thought WOTC being an American Company and that general ethos of "the customer is always right" would be a fair starting point. As I've stated, I'll be leaving when I'm good and ready, not when sycophants equally (and less eloquently) throw their toys out the pram ;) x
Again I thought I made my "point" as a polite request, but it seems you're determined to plunge yet another forum thread into adversary...
Go for it, don't hold back - spill that pent up... Maybe get some internet points?

Yeah, I get that - it's just "a thing" I could see to actually quantifying "sorry".
I'm not too bitter about it, there's plenty of other things to crack on with - just a voice in the wilderness ;)

If I do it do I get monthly perks such as dice and if I do then can I use them still?

From the Changelog page: "When you unsubscribe, you will maintain access to the subscription perks you collected."
, I’ll just sub when they get free items like dice or character sheet stuff I like.

It’s a cash grab. They are panicking about revenue lost from the mass unsubscribing event caused by all of their recent fiasco’s.

Current customers do get the deal! Subscribers just have to wait for their sub to lapse, and then they can use the free trial.
I was a paid Master Tier subscriber, and now I am a free Master Tier subscriber. I will go back to paid once the trial ends.

It's a "look at these high subscriber numbers" grab too - for them to present to their shareholders.
