One of the things I'm trying to do as a DM is give more variety of quest rewards and one of them is a spell they can't normally cast. For example, as a boon from an archmage that the party's done a favor for, the archmage has given a cleric the ability to cast Chromatic Orb. However, I have no idea how to go in and give this to a player.
Make a homebrew copy of their subclass, adding a feature that grants that. Change their subclass to the homebrew version. Uses Spellslot: Yes, Known: No, Always Prepared: Yes.
