Is it just me or does the character building side of this system seem to have been designed by someone that has never actually played a game of D&D. It has all the right box's and makes picking the various requirements very easy but you cant change anything that needs changing. equipment, money, and it has no way of modifying the character while in play without carrying a bottle of typex. I need either a character sheet that I can adjust on the go or the option of exporting a sheet that can be changed in hard format. I have just levelled up as a wizard in a game and no matter what I try to do I cant change the existing sheet or export a new one that can be modified to suit my particular character. I want to fill the empty box's. not waste ink, paper and time printing a whole new sheet out every time I have a minor change. there are no spaces for ritual learned spells, reaction prepared spells or predetermined bonus actions. there are no slots for potions or alchemical items that have doses. I cant watch keep a tabs on the spells learned or used as there are no tick box's or slots next to the spell list.
According to legend, beneath a distant mountain, powerful wizards labor on a CHARACTER SHEET REVAMP. When completed, it will reign supreme among online character sheets and all will bow before it. But no one knows what day it shall be unleashed.
(Supposedly, it's going to be released in Q2, the end of which is rapidly approaching. Before that, it was Q1, and before that, it was late 2017. Being a software developer myself, I'm well aware of how difficult it is to estimate a completion date, but it would be nice if they could at least give us a regular status update on the revamp... preferably without requiring us to watch hour-long "dev talk" videos, which are a terrible terrible way to deliver status updates.)
So a little history about the character PDF export. That was never part of the original scope of the DnDBeyond product. It was an dev afterthought, and community request so they added it quickly. This is the main reason that it doesn't work well at all. Instead of fixing it, they decided to leave it be and fix the issues when they released the fabled character sheet revamp. It is true, we have been waiting for this for a long time, but I'm positive that the wait will be worth it. In the last update, Badeye teased with a "June bug" on the slide referring to the character sheet revamp. He later tweeted and confirmed that the revamp would drop in June. Seems we have at most 16 days before we get the Almighty Character Sheet Revamp.

What specific things are you unable to change? I mostly DM, but I do create and use characters here, and I can adjust almost everything on my character sheet.
The pdf export, while admittedly far from perfect, is exported as a form fillable pdf, so things should be adjustable there, too.

Well, on the official paper character sheet, there aren't spaces or slots for most of these things.
If you are using the sheet online, it is possible to see and change spells learned and prepared, and to keep track of spell slots used (clicking on "cast" marks off a spell slot). It doesn't track which spells a caster has used, since in 5e you can cast a prepared spell as many times as you have slots for it.
In terms of spells, one of the huge downsides of pdf exports for wizard characters is that the spell sheet only lists prepared spells. This should be fixed with the character sheet revamp expected this month.
