Looked up the shadow and noticed the source is no longer Basic Rules but rather Basic Rules (2014).
Though I do wonder if it'll be easy to tag a creature with a certain rule set. IIRC the creatures in Monsters of Multiverse that overlap with Tome of Foes and Volo's aren't easy to separate if just tagging, for example, an apprentice wizard.
I'm pretty sure monster preview blocks did not previous list origin sourcebook. Once 2024 comes out, I expect you'll have to filter the same way you would for the current legacy -- go into advanced filters, check the Source (which I notice has retagged the monster manual as "Monster Manual (2014)") and select the 2014 books. They could probably create a source category (change Core D&D to Core D&D (2014)) to speed things up.

I'd like such a toggle too. I'm not planning to go with 5.5 so having a quick and easy way to restrict options to 5.0 would be nice.

It's not "5.5", it's still D&D 5th edition. All that's "changing" (if you can even call it that) is that new and updated core rulebooks are being published.
Well all rules for 5e be tagged 2014 and all 5.5 be tagged 2024?
There is no "5.5", it's all D&D 5th edition. Content originating from the 2014 Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual will be tagged "2014", and content originating from the 2024 Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual will be presumably left untagged. This is similar to how content that had an updated reprint in Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse was retroactively tagged "Legacy" and the new content was left untagged.

With due respect, the changes being made make the 5.5 colloquial tag reasonable. Changing a lot of classes' subclasses to lv3 instead 1 or 2 is significant.
Changes that have been stated to require the new PHB/MM/DMG instead of the current ones if you're mixing characters from each version. There's changed spells, like True Strike, that are drastically different. And the change from legendary actions to adding more reactions. etc.
I realize the official terminology from WotC is that it's 5e, but colloquially in the community, 5.5 is a clear term for 2024 stuff. And it's a way of referring to it that's gained decent traction. I also find it be less clunky than 5e 2014 vs 5e 2024.
I could definitely see that take on the way things are tagged though. Though, personally, I'm actually guessing they might also give a 2024 label to stuff too. Actually jumping off your mention of it being marketed as a continuation of 5e. Going off the way the articles have been tagged for example, I think there's a decent shot they'll label stuff (for the purpose of DDB searching) as Basic Rules (2024) and all.

I am seeing 5.24e and 5.5e getting used more frequently than anything else so I think it will eventually settle on one of those.

5.24 is growing on me. And if they do another incremental update in 10 years then it'll be easier to just do 5.34 instead of quibbling over whether it's 5.6, 5.75, 5.9 etc.

I kinda want "5g" to catch on (g for gold), but 5.24 isn't bad.

So, I'm helping out a friend what level 1 spells fall under both Wizard and Druid, and while checking one at a time...-
-...does anyone know what an Inquisition Domain is? found the TAG under Identify and it's definitely not in any of my options, lol.
No doubt it will be a new or renamed Cleric domain.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Apparently one of the subclasses (for the Cleric) from the Grim Hollow player’s pack.
Ah... thanks, I clearly don't have that pack. It's a bit much for me for 6(?) subclasses. :v
