Just saying... removing the ability to purchase individual items/portions from books isn't going to make me spend more money. I will never buy a $50 source book but I have spent $$$ multiple times buying the chunks of the book I actually use like races, subclasses, and spells.
Can you add some context to this? I don't believe I've heard they were ending those options. If you're talking about the 3rd party content, I don't believe they've ever had that option available and same for pre-orders.
I assume the original poster is referring to the thread they have already posted in? As far as I'm aware, The Book of Many Things is currently the only official D&D Beyond book you can't buy piecemeal on.
Third Party books are understandably blocked from allowing piecemeal.
EDIT - have noticed the original poster has created a thread on the same subject.

Basically, all the recent releases have not had piecemeal purchasing options. Originally, it was put down to them all being third party, but then BoMT was released, which is also official WotC, and had no piecemeal purchasing options.
It's possible that because it's intrinsically linked to physical objects, they felt that it wouldn't work without the compendium content. I don't have it (yet), but I'd be surprised if there weren't a single thing there that wouldn't work as an individual piecemeal purchase.
There was clarification that previous works would not have it removed, but it conspicuously avoided mentioning future products.
So there's some confusion as to whether they're removing them. I'm hoping not, because I have little intention on buying whole books for only one or two things I need. I was shifting towards going D&DB only and utilising that feature. If they are removing it...then I'll stay physical and just homebrew the things I want.

so true I was going to spend alot getting everything individual I needed for a character, but now I can only get book the option to purchase individually gone for me.
Im upset that they changed this feature without saying anything. This was how I bought most of my stuff because I didn't need att the stuff for subclasses I'll never use or random items I don't need. I will likely purchase less now as I can't afford to buy the whole book every single time. I could afford buying thinks a few dollars at a time, even if it ended up technically costing my more to do that. This will be a financial hit for them rather than an increase if you ask me.

Oh this was stupid, I was gonna buy a few a la carte subclasses, etc and when I go to purchase them all I can get is the whole book! Really bad move if you wanna get some of the more casual players involved! Bring back the a la carte options!
I had just bought a subclass last week for barbarian only to come back and see the option to buy individual classes was gone. This is absolute garbage and unfair to people who can't afford a book in full. Who in their right mind would even consider this to be a good idea, it actively hurts them in the long run. No one is going to buy $30 for a book that probably a majority of people that use site already have. Can we start a petition or something to get this option back?
The worst part about this is that I own the physical copy of most of the books and just want to add it into my DND Beyond to make character creation easier.
Yeah, this is a huge mistake. I bought quite a few single items simply for the character builder as I own most or all of the hardback books. This literally gives me zero reason to continue my sub or even bother using the character creator. Time to go back to old school paper and pencil or create a character sheet that can be modified on the fly. This in my opinion is a huge "Bud Light" mistake.
This might actually lead to my quitting DND as a whole because I can't really work with paper character sheets. There's just too damn much for my brain to cope with sorting through.
I will never be able to buy every source book I like a race in, same for individual spells. They have just put a lock on accessibility for disabled people who must operate on tight budgets.
Way to go Hasbro, ruining yet another of my favourite hobbies.
A heads up would have been nice. It's good to know that every character I create in the future is going to be limited to the classes I've already bought, because I'm sure as hell not going to drop a ridiculous amount of money on a digital copy of a book that they can revoke access to at any time just to play a new class or race. What a scumbag move. Hasbro and WoTC are really trying to punish people without money. Individual purchase options were such a great accessibility feature.
Not only is the piece meal/ala carte option removed, but they removed the bundles as well. No more super bundles so if you did want to buy every book available and get discounts on future books, that is also no longer an option. The new store in general is just a downgrade. Thanks Hasbeen, I mean Hasbro
Less user friendly,
less sorting options,
No way to easily see what content you already own
No Piece meal purchase
No Bundle Purchases
Payment screen is needlessly confusing, if you actually wanted to spend money

Well, it's a shame we can't buy piecemeal through the DNDB app since I have marketplace credits. :)

Man this sucks...
I was about to buy a bunch of varius options across several books. (about £30)
Now I can't.
Guess I'm just gonna copy paste from a webpage somewhere. congratz on activly hurting your community.
Talk about hustling backwards. Why not have more options to buy items? This is a bad move and I hope they reverse it.
The worst part about this is that I own the physical copy of most of the books and just want to add it into my DND Beyond to make character creation easier.
So instead of spending a minimal amount of money that I can afford I now have to spend £30 just to unlock one single class?
Just came on to see why I can't buy the fairy PC as my gf was saying how she bought the shifter.
Looks like can't do it.
I'm certainly not buying a book for one character. But I would have bought the class.
In a world where micro transactions are a clear revenue stream in gaming, it boggles the mind why this has been removed.
