One of the most powerful features of any of the Instruments of the Bards has now been removed.
In legacy, "You can play the instrument while casting a spell that causes any of its targets to be charmed on a failed saving throw, thereby imposing disadvantage on the save. This effect applies only if the spell has a somatic or a material component."
That is now gone. You still have the ability to case Fly, Invisibility, Levitate, Protection from Evil and Good, and 3 other spells depending on Instrument type 1xday. But the feature that made every bard really covet this item is now taken away.
Is this good, because disadvantage on the relevant charms (which would include Suggestion/Mass Suggesion in new rules) was OP? Or is it bad because it originally promoted specialization in something other just damage?
As a player who's primary character is a bard, its still a good item, but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed...

On its own it wasn't OP, but taken together with all the other features and you had some Uncommon level items that were way more powerful than any other Uncommon items.

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
