I have a Master Tier subscription and have purchased all content for rules and adventures.
I have created the five LMOP starter set characters to have them as clean tenplates.
I have created a LMOP campaign and sent the link to join to my players.
Is there a way for me to copy (or move if I must) the five players I have created into the LMOP campaign (likely as unassigned) so incoming players can claim them if they do not want to create one of their own?
Or, do I need to create them in the campaign as unassigned?
It seems absurd that I have to do anything like that to move a created character to a campaign. Why don't we have a feature under the character for us to click that says "Move to an existing campaign". Why is this so hard to implement?
1. Visit campaign link and add existing characters.
vs.
1. Visit character link and add to existing campaign.
The decision was made for one method instead of the other. I'm not seeing the difference in difficulty following established procedure. As a DM, my players would need to join the campaign with a character to begin with. How can a character be added to an existing campaign before it is joined? As for the DM, why would they have a different procedure than the players? Would that not be more difficult to implement as a service provider than a uniform method for all individuals, players and DMs alike?
The difference is that players can just click on the link in the message they receive. DMs have to copy and paste the link, and that procedure is not self-evident. I have to remember that’s the way to do it every time I need to add a character, and I’m pretty tech savvy. A clickable link (perhaps labeled “click here to add your own characters”) would be helpful.

You can upload them into the campaign slot using the link, then you can unassign them for your players to claim them.
Aha! Thanks!

Thank you for asking and answering this question. I have done a similar thing for my own home game.
