Question for everyone that uses a tablet: What tablet to you have and what are your experiences with D&D beyond on your tablet? I'm looking to buy one that I'll primarily be using for DMing, and I use D&D Beyond a lot. I work from home, so I tend to do my planning & prep on my desktop, and I've been using my laptop for DMing, but it's about to kick the bucket. I haven't had a tablet since my kiddo had an accident with an old iPad (2 maybe? gosh that was a long time ago!)... I'm particularly wondering about how well the website functions on your tablet, being able to switch from D&D beyond to OneNote quickly and how clunky or smooth that is, how you find the D&D beyond app, and bonus points if you've played around with the encounter builder too (I've used it on desktop but not mobile).
Anyone have any recommendations, or tablets to definitely stay away from? (Our phones run android, so likely looking in that family).
I use a tablet and I use the Game Master 5 app, which allows me to arrange all my notes and maps for different areas, view information on my player characters, prepare loot, prepare encounters, and even run my encounters as they happen. It just means you have to put in the effort to add the information, but it means I no longer have to keep flipping between different books.
I use the Galaxy Tab E to DM using D&D Beyond. I bought it specifically for D&D, literally uninstalled everything on it. D&D Beyond has done some great work and is improving exponentially so that it is the only resource you need for DMing and I've got to say as long as you don't have a tablet that is constantly bogged down by background apps, any will do.
I use a combination of an iPad (10.5" iPad Pro) and a Macbook to DM. Before I got the Macbook, I just used the iPad, but my Macbook isn't much bigger, so I've been using both.
With my iPad in landscaped the website works pretty much like on a computer. The encounter builder isn't great on it, as they haven't optimized it for mobile yet, and it doesn't distiguish well between trying to scroll through the monster list and adding a monster to the encounter.
The app is faster than the website for spell and monster lookup. The website lets you have multiple tabs open, which is really nice. It's a bit of a chore to switch between areas (spells, monsters, compendium) on the app--at lest compared to switching between already opened tabs on a browser.
The app doesn't (yet?) give you access to campaigns, homebrew, character sheets, etc.

Thanks fam!
Although in German, I‘d recommend having a look at this video to get an impression what can be done with an iPad.
