I know this is probably a dead horse, but after my last session I figured I'd beat it a bit.
I purchased all the content and shared it with my campaign, so my party was fully on board for making their characters with D&D Beyond. I stupidly didn't think to suggest they also have printouts of their character, which I should have done and this is totally 100% my fault, not trying to blame D&D Beyond, I love D&D beyond. But last saturday we had a storm and our power went out. We kept playing by candle light (great ambiance) but no one had internet to connect to D&D Beyond on the app, so we had to guess at some stuff since a couple people didn't have their stats otherwise. We also play at a place that has really crap internet generally so people struggle to connect sometimes even with the power on.
I was wondering if there is any news/info/future plans to make an app version available and have it with offline capabilities? The current app is just for reading/reference, you can't build characters on it, so the only access is through the site. Which normally is fine and works great. But it would be awesome if they came out with an app for the character creation that allowed you to view your character offline.
I can understand not being able to have access to everything offline. Not only is that a lot of data, but since my players didn't pay for any D&D beyond stuff it wouldn't work for them to have full access to it on their mobile device to use for other campaigns. But maybe just allowing them to view their character as-is offline, and allow for things like using spell slots, changing HP, adding conditions that kind of thing. But they'd need to access the internet to level up or add new spells/items etc (unless they bought content themselves).
Anyway, that'd be great and I hope it's something they have planned. If they do, any ETA on when?
I know they are planning on adding the character sheet to the app. At the last Developer’s update it was listed as “Upcoming,” meaning that development (i.e. coding) hasn’t begun, but it is expected to be one of the “next up” items when development resources are freed up for a new task. DDB staff don’t provide dates or ETAs beyond “upcoming” (or, on very rare occasion, “hopefully during quarter X”). I know it won’t be before the New Year, as they go into code freeze in December both to allow time to deal with tech debt and to give their staff some downtime.
What is don’t know is whether or not off-line access to characters is planned, although I would hope it would be.
@chaotic Last dev update or the one before they moved it to work in progress and talked about the new team of developers. Cautiously optimistic that there is movement.
I have been following this topic for sometime with same interest in being able to use the content when I don't have any/reliable internet access. I have found a partial solution, in the form of an Android App Emulator. I use Bluestacks <www.BlueStacks.com> and then just installed DDB for Android. I was able to download all the source material I have purchased to my PC. I would still rather have an organic capability from within DDB.

Unfortunately, still waiting. I live out in the sticks so can't always access internet, this would seriously be useful
It is still in works, now with a team dedicated just to the mobile app(s). It is taking longer than anyone wanted—including DDB.

For my Offline DDB access I use an Acer Chrombook for the app, works great and chrombooks are somewhat cost effective laptop replacement
